Painting in the Abstract

Limit 10 people age 14+

Open up your creative style by learning abstract expressionism techniques working across various acrylic paint and watercolour activities to give you the freedom to explore mark making, glazing and assembly. This intensely personal process enriches your artwork to help focus on rendering the image with emphasis on the journey. The workshop will teach you the foundations of abstraction… or just to simply try something new and fun whilst throwing away the rule book leading to using these techniques to transpose your image onto canvas.

Please bring/wear old clothes or apron. Materials provided. Optional: Bring along your favourite brushes and acrylic paint

About the artist Lisa Ashcroft

Townsville based artist Lisa Ashcroft attended Cyprus College of Art and the School of the Fine Arts, New York. Working from a studio in Queensland Lisa is developing her abstract Barrier Reef painting and watercolour works. She has works in the UK, Cyprus, America, Japan and Spain in private collections and has exhibited paintings in multiple shows over the last 25 years including London, Manchester, Cyprus, Brisbane and Melbourne. 

Lisa was recently commissioned by the Townsville City Council Galleries to facilitate art workshops across 21 private and state schools in Townsville. The works will be exhibited in the 2021 Strand Ephemera exhibition.
