Film screening at the new Proserpine Entertainment Centre

In 2022 the Whitsundays Arts Festival is adding the art of cinema to take advantage of the opening of the Proserpine Entertainment Centre, offering state-of-the-art digital projection on the big screen.

In light of the theme 'Memories,' the Festival presents ‘Celeste’ on Saturday 24 September with special guest and film director, Ben Hackworth. ‘Celeste’ screened at Cannes Film Festival and many other international film festivals and was shot at the amazing Paronella Park in North Queensland. It tells the story of a middle-aged opera singer who, as a young woman, arrived at this magical place created for her by her older husband. After his death, and just as she is about to present her last performance there, her stepson returns after a long absence.

A second screening of the wonderful Almodovar film ‘Parallel Mothers’ will also be presented by Film & Arts Mackay on Sunday afternoon, 25 September.
